August 25, 2012 - Wine Dinner to Start the School Year - 90 Dom, 87 DRC, 78 Margaux, 04 Kapscandy ...: This gets close to one of the best wines of the year for me. If I were to guess, it is in the 4th inning of its life. There was barely a hint of age when poured into the glass. Deep rich red color filled the bowl. Amazing crushed raspberry, some kirsch and an earthiness that permiated the mid-palate. The weight in the mouth was like a fly-weight boxer. Powerful but moved with elegance. A special treat from a generous friend. A tattoo on the brain kind of wine.

December 17, 2011 - Opened and decanted in anticipation of a celebration with good friends. Had to try a taste after 15 minutes. Drank that glass over the next hour. At first it was a bit flat with a strong alcohol taste. Over the next half hour it became very smooth and rich and the longer I waited the more balanced it became. Traditional burgundy flavor of earth and a hint tobacco. The longer it decanted, the spicier and more peppery it became. Meaty on the nose. A fabulous wine, likely in the prime of it's life.

September 1, 2005 - Patrick as always showing his generosity with the DRC! The nose on this was the big winner of the night. Towering aroma of asian spices and candied red fruit. I'm not a really big nose freak, but this was really something. On the palate, nice rich red fruit but still pretty tight actually and almost a bit angular. 92+ pts (much higher for the nose alone!) 9/05
