Community Tasting Notes 1

November 19, 2016 - Fairly dark garnet - throws a heavy deposit when decanted. Mature and quite complex nose with aromas of dried roses, black cherries, dried porcini, tar, old wood and cola. Full-size palate with developed black fruit flavours, lively acidity and big chewy/slightly woody tannins. The 15% abv are unremarkable in the big framework, but three years in midsize French oak (medium toast, part new, mostly used) has definitely made a mark without affecting the wine too much. Ready to go now and a great match with game meat, such as roe deer, red wine gravy and potato gratin.
