Community Tasting Notes 5

October 29, 2023 - Dark, no sign of ageing. Muted aromas typical for Syrah. Untypically muted, though. In the mouth the fruit is almost absent, and the aftertaste just isn't there. My conclusion is that this is an instance of stealth cork. A phenomenon far too little remarked upon. I score it rather than sign it off as spoiled since it just MAY be something other than stealth cork.

March 14, 2021 - Deep, blue-red colour. Rich, perfumed nose offering dark, sour berries and rose petals. Delicate attack, and a medium-bodied mouthfeel.
The palate offers dark berries, hints of chocolate and menthol, as well as juniper berry, white pepper and more complex spice notes of camphor and herbs. Good acidity. The wine feels deep and concentrated, with excellent balance and good length. It has a perfumed elegance to it; the blood/iron and earthy notes I had expected to find were not very present.
A beautiful wine that appears fully developed now, but which will likely last for at least few more years.

    Dark berries. Nice acidity.

September 28, 2019 - Intense and seductive aromas with fresh darker berries, dried juniper, salt minerals, wet forest and hints of dark perfume. This smells like autumn!

Good full bodied and pronounced fresh wine with truly seductive mouthfeel of blackberries, dark plum peel, dried juniper, asphalt dust and this darker salty soil. Surprisingly good acidity levels and tannins that are nicely ripe and perfectly balanced. This is a very good wine from the Reynard field in Cornas.
