Community Tasting Notes 7

August 17, 2020 - Gang of 5 in Covid19 times; No theme. We each brought some wines. (@ RW): Not so many notes. In the bouquet and on the palate yellow fruits, some sweetness, acidity and bitterness. Special wine.

November 29, 2017 - While largely unknown by the global consumer, Nascetta is lauded as one of the top white wines of the Langhe. This unique varietal is indigenous to Novello and was nearly rendered extinct during the 20th century. There are only ~25 producers in the world still vinifying Nascetta today. It’s a fickle grape that commands constant care and devotion, but the 2015 Elvio Cogno Anas-Cetta I recently tasted is living proof that the additional effort required is well worth it, and a testament to what Nascetta is capable of under the control of a talented winemaker. The wine showed expressive floral notes, honey and citrus fruit and was incredibly concentrated on the palate. Dried citrus fruit and honeysuckle endure on the Anas-Cetta's lengthy finish. Hats off to Valter Fissore and Nadia Cogno for pioneering the effort to revive this captivating grape! Drink now or hold.

April 2, 2017 - Pours a yellow gold, crystalline and bright. Lovely nose of poached pears, white peach, loads of minerals, some fresh grass and sweet hay. The palate is medium>medium+, with excellent acidity to carry the layers of orchard fruits. Finish is medium+, with substantive mouthfeel. Dry, clean and long, this was a big hit on the night. An outlier for a Langhe bianco, and a welcome one at that; think Premiere or GC white Burg type body and length. Now and for the next 4-5 years, at least. 13,0% abv. At 20€, this is a great value, and is easily recommended

Served non-blind, with a one hour Audoze.

February 15, 2017 - TREBICCHIERI PRE-TASTING, nose of citrus and minerals, tangerine, blood orange, same on the palate, medium body, delicious tasting, fairly fruit forward, dry tasting, mineral driven, medium/long finish.

November 9, 2016 - Here I found an intriguing and expressive display of spiced pear, almond, floral tones and minerals. On the palate, waxy textures gave way to notes of pear, saline-minerality and and hints of citrus. It lasted wonderfully long on the finish with saturating minerality.
