February 12, 2023 - Bottled 2016. 36 yrs in cask. 2,239 bottles. 300 halves. Decanted 48hrs.
Bark burnished mahogany - the colour of Baltic amber. This is rich and slightly sweet in the typical Blandy's style with lots of caramel and toffee and there is a slightly burnt element to the flavours, like caramelised sugar. But then cutting through that richness and sweetness comes the typical Terrantez acidity creating a very harmonious and balanced whole. The grapefruit acidity lingers on the tongue as the last of the burnt caramel fades into the distance. Good stuff, albeit in that slightly richer darker Blandy's style which isn't necessarily my favourite, but the quality here is is undeniable.2 people found this helpful Comment -

October 17, 2018 - Blandy's masterclass with Chris Blandy (Chicago, IL): Even though I tend to prefer the richer styles of madeira, there's something about terrantez with its racy acidity that I really love. (That or it being the odd one out of the white grapes.) This wine is no exception -- herbal and spicy on the nose, with an almost perfumed floral expression. The acidity is indeed very racy, and there's just barely enough sweetness to round off the sharp edges. Complex and mineral.

November 14, 2016 - brown colour with a touch of green
Marmalade on the nose, very lively and frsh
Very very dry, tangy, nutty, almonds, masses of acidity
Long, with notes of salted almonds
So pure and vibrant
Superb.
