June 2, 2017 - Darkly toasted oak with smoke dominates the palate and overwhelms the fruit. The smokey flavor lingers with a long, charred finish. There's too much toast on the oak and the wine spent too much time in the barrel. Knowing its provenance, I so much wanted to love this but its not for me. This reminded me a lot of the '14 Diamondes Chardonnay from Argentina which I did not enjoy because of the predominance of oak. The Amapola was tasted up against the '15 Arboleda from Chile; I much preferred the Arboleda at 1/3 the price.

June 2, 2017 - Not my style of Chardonnay but this is well made. Dried pineapple, lemon curd, buttery oak on the nose especially as it warmed up. Creamy texture and med body and acid -. Full of oaky buttery fruit, pineapple, Meyer lemon.
