Community Tasting Notes 10

February 20, 2023 - Piemonte Non-reds & Catena Malbec Horizontal: Smoke, tobacco, plum, still some vanilla from the oak. On the palate, smooth tannin and a little darker & more brooding compared to the Nicassia. Spicy flavours with bramble and blackcurrant. Full bodied, high tannin but smooth and plush. Didn't show quite as well as my previous bottle likely due to being tasted in a group.

June 5, 2021 - Quite tannic and plush on opening. After two hours the tannins softened and depth of fruit revealed, with good acid in support. You can taste the high altitude.

October 30, 2020 - Deep colour. Medium nose. Toms of fresh fruit and green tomato leaves. Low acid,ed low well integrated tannins. Med finish. A different wine to try and very good. Would benefit from a few more years in bottle. Complements a meat and veggies lasagna.

July 12, 2020 - Wow. This is wonderful. Mint, tar, blue fruits, red plum, earth, forest floor, smoke, eucalyptus, tree sap. Not a bold Malbec in any way. Balances ripe fruit, intriguing savory element in the mid-palate, sweetness on the finish, and juicy acidity. Hold off drinking until 2023 and will continue to improve until at least 2030. Sensational.
