February 25, 2023 - This wine keeps on impressing me over the years, lovely layered Rioja Reserva , old shool, so expressive on the nosewith Old Leather candied fruit cigar box , salty caramel and after a while a very leafy/floral character emerged ( in a good way).
For a 32 year old reserva it still holds its own giving an ethereal fruit mixed in with old wood aromas, super soft tannins on a beautiful acid streak mingles with orange zest and red fruit...sure it can still hold the road for another 15 years.
the nose kept shape shifting over 3 hours... Hard to beat this for the price paid but they do need 20/25 years to come together.
I decanted this 1 hour and slapped back in the bottle after cleaning out the residue.

February 24, 2023 - past its peak but wow what a nice wine to drink.

June 19, 2022 - "Día de los Daddys" (Chicago, IL): Pretty typical old school Rioja -- a bit of funk, some TCA-like notes, a bit of brett, some oxidation, it's a veritable mix of wine flaws in a way that somehow all add together to become something different. A bit of dried red fruit here, with hints of all of those off notes somehow adding something to the wine. It's not something I would want to drink a lot of, but this is definitely an interesting bottle.

December 11, 2021 - I've had this wine so many times but I don't have a note since 2013. Anyways, this is still pretty much the same; a pickled cherry kind of fruit, piquillo, damp tobacco. Silky body, a touch more fleshiness would make this spectacular.

October 23, 2021 - Side-by Side 1991 Riojas (at home): No Decant. Incredible bouquet of sweet library notes, baked fruits, and old-school licorice. Dominated by savory flavors, unlike the '91 Caceres Gran Reserva by its side, but still so much energy here. Nice length with orange rind and some fresh and dried strawberry.

Placed under Private Preserve (inert gas) for 20 hours. Day two - opened sharply but then with the jolt of air softened to become even better than night one! Based on this bottle, probably best not to wait for its 40th. -2024.
