Community Tasting Notes 2

June 10, 2022 - Pinot Blind: Some maturity on the color. Beautifully expressive note with space and herbal notes mixed with some loam and sous-bios. Palate was crisp, is a bit thin and lacking a little fresh. Didn’t quite do it for be as I felt the structure/stem notes where a little out of balance to the fruit.

April 30, 2017 - Color: Deep and dark ruby at the core of the glass (Riedel Somm Burg).
Smell: Dark fruits, blueberry, boysenberry, smoked-crispy pork belly, high-end cola (Fentiman's cola), and dark earth soil.
Taste: Raspberries, Strawberries, Cranberries, and a hint of greenness...so maybe some stem-inclusion?
Overall: This wine is a bit of an oxymoron. The nose leans dark and deep towards the darker-fruits...but the palate is all red-fruit. This seems like a wine that's a bit "larger-than-life". Almost stylistically opposed to what I've come to expect from Eyrie. However, the balance on the palate is undeniable. Medium body, med+ acidity, med- tannin, and a long...dry finish. If I had another bottle...I'd treat this like a Grand Cru Burgundy and forget it for 15-20+ years. Outstanding now...and clearly poised to improve with time.
