October 22, 2023 - My first experience with Galardi and this varietal. I thought it was really nice, definitely on the rustic side, but I didn't get the feeling it was over the hill. I agree the tannins were much less than I was expecting, but thats not to say they were absent or the wine was unstructured. Drink now or over the next 10 years I would say.

Unmistakably southern Italian nose. Smelling this instantly reminds you of sunshine, tomatoes and herbs. To be specific, aromas of rosemary, lavender, potpourri, black pepper, sun dried tomatoes, crushed red pepper, ripe blueberry, ripe strawberries and ripe raspberries. The fruit is almost buried under the herbal aromas. High intensity of aromas. The palate is pretty consistent, adding a note of leather. Overall driven by the herbs. Intensity of flavors is medium +.
Medium + body with medium + acid and low tannins. The lack of tannins was a surprise for something made from 80% Aglianico and made this feel older than 9 years. Drink now. This is not going to get any better; and may be very slightly past peak.1 person found this helpful Comment -

October 2, 2023 - Amazing turn around in quality from the first bottle! Great depth of flavors and mouthfeel. Tastes of dark red and black fruit and it looks it. Very polished and refined.

May 25, 2022 - This is a lot of wine for 26 bucks! Like a lot of aglianico, I don't think it's destined to win any people's choice awards, but the structured, rustic bottle is great by me, especially for the price.
Double decanted. Deep violet with slightly bricking edges. Gamy, animal nose with some raisin. Palate leans redder than I expected, with some fresh blackberry, baking spice, and mineral notes. Finish is on the short side; surprisingly light on tannins, but what's there is rustic. Ready to drink, but no rush.2 people found this helpful Comment
