Community Tasting Notes 2

March 4, 2017 - Note: An addt'l bottle to the 1 tasted @ the shop

    Private Preserve after Day 1

    N: CLOSED :(

P: MF body; Mushrooms with ZESTY acidity; LONG, earthy/minerally finish; Considerably tighter than the bottle from the shop.

// Day 2: Served @ cool room temp (≈68 °F); Showing markedly > on both N & P than it did on Day 1, though still not up to the level of the shop tasting. :( 2 poss explanations for this: 1) The oddly stained, very "wet" cork may have been an indication of extra exposure to air somewhere along the line. 2) Though Day 1 was a cool one, the bottle had sat in the trunk of my car for 4 hrs before being chilled & opened. So, it might not have reacted well to that treatment, &/or I had the temp TOO cold Day 1. [This bottling is likely better closer to room temp than it is TOO cold.] One way or the other, I'll NOT be repurchasing since my 2 relatives were not at ALL impressed with the wine. :( [As of early Nov '20, wine-searcher only shows this avail in magnums @ $199.95].

March 4, 2017 - Winebar [2 Whts & 6 Reds] from 03/3/17 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): "The wines are kept on their lies as long as possible, & racked once before bottling. The whites are fined, but not filtered, & aged in 10-30% new barrels, except for the 1er & grand cru."

N: Toast, earth with notes of mushrooms

P: MF, poss F, body; Attractive, almost swtish frt/oak met by balancing acidity; LONG, toasty/lemony finish which I can only POSSIBLY fault for being perhaps a TOUCH on the faint side. Drinking beautifully right now, & could well improve for 6-9 mos, then drink nicely through '19 min. [As of mid Mar '20, wine-searcher only shows this avail in magnums @ $199.95].
