February 11, 2019 - Opened for a 40th birthday dinner with little sign of what was in store, other that the bottle had a high shoulder and was likely well-stored. Pomerol fared better than most Bordeaux in '79, if this bottle is any indication. With only minimal decanting, it poured with some intensity in color and nose. Quite perfumed, there were hints of flower and truffle wafting out of the glass. The wine was medium bodied with lovely soft tannins and complex flavors of red fruits. It lasted all two hours of dinner, and made for a special birthday.
