August 22, 2021 - Perfect levels and good cork.
    Lustrous, golden.
    Wax, straw, honey, honeysuckle, toast.
Silky, smooth, stylish, very clean and long. Lithe semillon influence dominates, not a lot of the tropical savblanc flavours left. No hint of oxidative characters, just faded glories of fruit and subtle spice, like a beautifully aged old semillon but then it’s not as toasty as the old Hunter classics. Acidity seems to be keeping it in shape, will drink well for another decade but I guess will keep losing fruit.

September 6, 2017 - Light and fruit starting to disappear - but interesting aromas, tropical, fun

April 22, 2017 - Fading, but still holding on to its citrus, pear and tropical fruits, you also find a liberal dose of honeysuckle and stone. Medium bodied, and on its way to being even lighter, as it continues dropping fruit and increasing its acidities. Drink up.

November 23, 2016 - These wines from Haut Brion continue to intrigue me like no other white wine I have ever tasted. Very unusual tastes and bouquets from this wonderful mix of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Although it requires at least one hour open in the bottle before the true nature of this wine begins to become apparant, the bees wax, citrus, floral and stone fruit notes among others is ethereal while holding its own weight decidedly. I have an ’81 of this same wine that I opened a year ago and felt that it had an easy ten years of fantastic life left. I feel that this ’87 also has an abundance of life in it as well.

January 21, 2016 - Graves and Sauternes Dinner (RSJ, Southwark, London): Salmon pink. Nose is slightly oxidative, melon, touch of chalky mineral but a little uninteresting. Palate is medium bodied, fresher than the nose but still not overly interesting or complex, good length slightly minerally finish. OK, but presumably past its best. *1/2.
