September 13, 2019 - My final bottle of this vintage. Drank it with friends in a friendly hotel bar that let me open my own wine, after a long day of driving. Simple, easy drinking with a medium length finish. Some spice notes. According to the Soos Creek web site, the blend is 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Merlot. I'm guessing the Merlot gave it the easy drinking low tannin feeling. I feel Soos Creek always over delivers on the QPR scale.

November 20, 2018 - Really surprising wine. First night we found wine to be bright fruity one dimensional and cheap tasting. After a night after corking wow what a difference. That bright fruitiness was subdued and more complex flavors and very nice. Let this one breath!

June 29, 2018 - Serious, well made, powerful Cab/Merlot. Black/purple color. Nose of alcohol (blew off with time), dark fruit, and interesting whiffs of smoke, tar, tobacco, and forest floor. Full bodied, rich but dry complex delicious fruit. Moderately firm soft tannins and a long finish. It’s strength and balance make it a steal at $20. Reaches its peak after 2 1/2 hours; will improve for several years.

May 2, 2018 - Part of an "Everyday Drinking Wine Night" with my wine group. Opened, but not decanted, at a restaurant, for at least 30 minutes before pouring. I was concerned enough by the previous two tasting notes on CT, that I brought a back up bottle of some other wine. I didn't need the back up. No notes of funk that other posters commented on. Just another fine wine from David Larson and the folks at Soos Creek. This was our WOTN. Beautiful floral bouquet, medium+ length finish. Nice left bank Bordeaux style blend, although a bit more fruit driven then those wines. Solid QPR.

October 20, 2017 - Rated very highly and considered a tremendous value at $20. I was excited to try this wine as I really really enjoy the soos creek cab franc. I decanted this bottle for for 3 hours. Its pretty good up front and has a nice mouth feel unfortunately, I also really noticed the funky finish mentioned on another review. Not my thing at all. Purchased two bottles and actually returned the second bottle.

    Full Pull Farewell Champoux, 9/24/2017

(Soos Creek Soleil) Hello friends. For almost as long as Full Pull has been writing about wine, we’ve considered Soos Creek to be responsible for some of the best values coming out of Washington. Soos Creek is a holistic representation of our state’s burgeoning wine scene. The man in charge, Dave Larsen, is one of the great success stories of the Boeing Winemaking Club. He began making wine in 1987 and quickly moved from amateur to commercial winemaking in 1989. He kept both gigs (Boeing and Soos Creek) until 2004, when he retired from Boeing to pursue winemaking full time. Despite 30 years in the business, Soos Creek is still very much a boutique winery, with thoughtful, limited production (still under 2,000 cases) that always leads to high demand. Much of Soos Creek’s success comes from its honest and passionate approach to fruit. From the sourcing to winemaking, presenting and showcasing beautiful fruit has always been Dave’s focus. However, the 2014 vintage marks a surprising shift in Soos’ fruit. Due to Paul Champoux’s retirement, 2014 marks the final vintage that the winery will source grapes from Champoux Vineyard. David Larsen and Champoux have a long, rich history together. Dave’s first commercial wine in 1989 was made from Mercer Ranch fruit. Mercer Ranch was eventually sold and renamed Champoux Vineyard (located here), and is considered by many the greatest site for Cabernet Sauvignon in the state. 2014 marks Dave’s 26th vintage working with this site, making these final bottlings homages to decades’ worth of work. Today, we have two wines that showcase the partnership Soos Creek and Champoux have built over the years.See key for # of bottles currently available.
