February 17, 2024 - In the decanter for an hour prior to drinking and drank over 3 hours.
Gazza, our fearless leader, gave a good review last month, so stealing some of his descriptors. Sawn timber dominating subdued black berry fruit. Olive, dried herbs, gripping tannins leaving a hard, tough wine that will probably out live the fruit. Out of balance and not the usual Coppermine Rd that I’ve always recalled, which is typically Aus’s best ‘Napa’ example of sweet red fruit driven cab.

Think its decline will be most disappointing. Drink up

April 27, 2023 - Its friday night Steak Night so , Lets ahve a look at this wine of Ten years of age .Many mixed reviews here so lets give follower a Real update and true Aust.Wine Show judge rating ok.

On opening direct from wine fridge we have Deep Black opaque core in colour with deep purple/ruby rim at April 2023. Excellent and as expected from the great 2013 vintage in McLaren Vale. Many years of life a head .. excellent

Now on opening and leaping out of the glass , ripe sweet blackcurrant cab fruit with a hint of tobacco leafyness typical of cabs from this region and lovely sweet vanilla new french oak flavours too only giving more liking to this beauty .. Outstanding for this Area which is Shiraz & Grenache Heaven usually.

On the palate again on opening we have ripe sweet fruit upfront , maturing mid palate structure and now loosing fruit sweetness which is a big worry ,as it may be overextracted and shows now too much tannin for the lack of fruit... Balance on palate is poor ..MMM thats what other people are seeing and i must agree .. Said as it smells great , colour great but palate loosing fruit now for certain ..I suggest Sell if you have or drink quick ...
It also confirms my thoughts about Cab Savs in McLaren Vale are best at younger ages up to five years too..

July 27, 2022 - left to air for circa 3 hours - much better

May 21, 2022 - Benefited from a long decant but still a bit hot and aggressive, not sure if this one will mellow with more time or if this is just how the wine is. Colour good but starting to show a bit of brick red in the deep red/purple..9yrs now, maybe a 15yr wine but not 20.

Cabernet character in the blackcurrant fruit and a hint of leafiness. McLaren dark chocolate coming through too. It's a wine dialled up to 11 - big flavours, big tannins and acidity, alcohol only 14.5 but quite prominent.

Pretty good as long as you're in the mood for power over elegance.

August 29, 2021 - Seems to have declined if anything the last few years. Would not expect any further improvement.
