    September 11, 2021 - OK. Nothing special. Not much structure and fairly monolithic. A bit too modern and sweet tasting for me as well.

    February 2, 2021 - first night: pale purple, medium body, aromas of blackberries, cassis, faded dark fruit flavors, oaky, moderate acids, medium tannins, pleasant finish ...
    2nd night, oxidized oakiness: drink now
    first hour: 89, second hour: 85, second night: 80

    February 3, 2020 - Opened ≈90 min prior

    90% C.S. [50% from Beverly Vyd ("almost 100% coarse sand with lots of silica"), 50% from Eagle & Plow Vyd ("heavier soil of Burbank rocky loam") & 10% C.F. [Shaw Vineyard in the Wahluke Slope]; "50% of the grapes stayed on the skins after fermentation for 9 mos (average time from crush to press for red wine is under a month). This extended maceration extracted the intrinsic qualities of the grape, mellowed tannins, and created an unexpected silky texture. 10% was fermented in concrete tanks, highlighting the mineral character of the wine; 50% of the final blend aged in 100% older FR oak for 12 mos." 14.5% ABV, 0.53 g/100mL T.A., & 3.82 pH;

    N: Closed; RIPE cherries (cola?) atop choc with notes of pyrazines

    P: Med, poss MF, body; Rndish entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which pretty much works itself out by the LONG, VERY slightly tangy finish with a food friendly bitter/swtness to the QUITE unoffensive, very, VERY fine tannins. For now & the next 18, poss 24, mos, though I'd recommend NOT with a swtish (BBQ?) type Tom Sauce as that seemed to bring out the BITTER aspect of its bitter/swtness. (By itself, or with the Scalloped Potatoes side, the wine was fine.) My VG+/EXC-, arguably the higher for the QPR of the $16 or so I pd for it on a closeout several yrs ago. 90 pts WE @ $22 & 88 WS. [As of early Apr '20, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $22].

    Note: Also tasted on 11/5/18 & 8/25/19

    January 20, 2020 - Intense and concentrated. Shows raspberries, cherries, red currant and licorice. Tannins are firm and hold up the finish quite well. Medium bodied, medium to high tannins, medium acidity. This would pair well with beef. That is a great contender at that price point. One of my kind!! NI:4, FI:22, FC:8, B:3, L:4
