February 12, 2017 - Belated CNY Roast Meats (Beacon Hill): 14.5% Rich sweet dark fruit, cassis, blueberries, pastille, gummy, 'grape' bubblegum, candyfloss. Palate is exactly congruous - sweet dark fruit, rich, cassis, blueberries, pastille, gummy 'grape' and candyfloss. Monolithic. Young, tight tannins. Persistent purple aroma, remarkable in itself, but as a cabernet, somewhat disconcerting. Fatty char-siew seems to help somewhat, but i wonder what this wine best pairs with. It's a fun drink - reminiscent of a budget mollydooker. I'd gladly drink this at 30,000 feet when my nose is shot, and I'm served a lambstew over polenta. Here's looking at you, Qantas!
