October 28, 2023 - cola color. lots of grain-styled earth notes to the nose and palate. significant med/- tannin, still alive (some called out fruit still there, but I didn't quite it as that), but not loads of excitement left. fun to try all the same...

October 20, 2017 - drank from a magnum--still has some fruit with complex secondary notes, had a bit of a "funk" but I enjoyed it.

September 29, 2013 - Held up very nicely... One more bottle left - will let it air out a little more next time.

February 25, 2013 - Friend at dinner came by our table and offered me a pour, nice brick color, dark fruit on the nose with touch of mushroom and earth, more of the same on the palate, tired, better ten years ago.

February 27, 2012 - Dinner at Apiary (East Village): Dense, black blood; tiny bit of bricking. Classic aged Cali-CS nose: minty, leathery, licorice, vitamins, loads of baking chocolate; enticing. Palate generous, mellow, ready; cherry, embers. Medium bodied, good length. Absolutely delicious wine and drinking perfectly.
