September 27, 2022 - First of my bottles opened. This is a wine I have followed from the barrel - - to the Roi de Chambertin Tasting in the basement in Gevrey in 2016 and now out of a bottle in 2022. This is a great wine. MF really nailed the winemaking. The fruit is very present still and it has not even started to really develop. It is really nicely balanced with a great nose and very balanced acidity - especially for the vintage. What was great was as we got towards the end of the bottle after around 60 mins - it started to show amazing silky tannins and almost showing a little bit of the magic dust in the style of another famous Gevrey producer starting with "R" . . . . . There is not too much of this out there but I am looking forward to coming back to it in 5 years.

January 24, 2020 - Marchand & Tawse / Pascal Marchand Dinner (Chloe, DC): Expressive nose displaying very ripe black fruit, blackberry jam, black cherry, strong licorice, spicy spices and earth. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of very ripe black fruit, rich and opulent yet silky, medium acidity, earthy mineral and a medium to long ripe black fruit driven finish with licorice and spices at the end. With air, the ripe fruit expression subsides a bit but still noticeable. It will be interesting to follow how this develops.

January 24, 2020 - Ripe red fruits, new oak flavors showing through, some roasted meats and cola, great weight and density in this wine, should only get better with time. Very good.

January 24, 2020 - Young Marchand-Tawse Wine Dinner: In 10/13/14/15/16 vertical. This was the toughest to assess and for me to enjoy. Very ripe with a nearly New World character. Also clearly showing Grand Cru density, but more fun right now than complex or layered in the style of great Grand Cru. But this is so young and a few hours of decanter time was just not enough - another decade+ in the cellar is required.

May 18, 2017 - absolutely brilliant wine, winemaker Mark Fincham has crafted a masterpiece here. Big, dark and brooding, rich, complex and with laser focus. A rare bird, even for this wonderful vintage.
this is drinking amazing well from barrel, but my guess it will clamp down around age three and sleep for a decade. Will certainly be worth the wait.
