July 24, 2023 - Retail $13. 75% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay. Organic grapes. It has been a few years since I sampled this sparkler from one of my favorite producers in Argentina. Not only are they making their wines with a conscious eye to the environment, but they also have a wonderful outreach program for tiny bloggers like me. The wine is as I remember it, fruity (with strawberry, cherry, and also a touch of rhubarb), has a vibrant sparkle, and just the slightest hint of sweetness (8.2 g/l). It finishes long and, again, fruity, and is a lovely quaff on another sweltering day here in Houston.

June 15, 2023 - Domaine Bousquet: Pale copper color. The nose shows a mix of crushed sweet tarts and seashells over top of red apple, orange peel, with notes of chalk dust, dandelion, and floral perfume. Crisp and punchy on the palate, this is light and fun with bold bubbles and chalky, salty freshness throughout. Red apples, watermelon, white peach, the fruit has slight notes of honey and bread dough, with nuances of white flowers, rose petals, spiced tea. Sparkling wines in the $15 range can be a minefield (especially if you don’t like sugary-sweet, off-balance wines) – this is a diamond in the rough. A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay made via the Charmat method.

Creamsicle, crisp apple, discreet savory/herbal nose.
Zesty acids, mandarin, lemon-lime, tart Gala apple notes. Excellent QTV.
    Crisp, bright, refreshing.

January 4, 2022 - Lot 21052-21189. This is my second experience with this bottle and it hits a home run yet again. While not as refined or deep as most Champagne, it delivers every bit as good as many of the entry-level Champagnes and some cremants, and does so at a fraction of the price. The nose wafts watermelon, Pink Lady apple, wet slate, cranberry, and Sprite. It's medium bodied with highly texturalized mousse and extra-brisk acid. The flavors include lime zest, crushed gravel, tart strawberry and watermelon, and white pepper. I can see this being quite versatile with food and a great bottle for Thanksgiving or a variety-inspired multi-course meal.

December 31, 2021 - Organic 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay from 4000' vineyards in Tupungato, Alto Gualtallary, Uco Valley. Charmat Method. Pale salmon. Vigorous petillage. Med. raspberry, tart strawberry, white cherry. Dry (7.9 g/L RS), w/ med+ acidity and med alcohol (12.5%). Crisp and crunchy tart red fruit with generous notes of ripe grapefruit and blood orange, with a clean, mineral note on the finish. Med body, flavor intensity and length. Quite quaffable, incredibly good QPR.
