Community Tasting Notes 3

September 4, 2009 - Nice enough for everyday, once in a while- a Pinot like Syrah (flip the script for once). Some interesting shoe shine and pepper elements with a good cassis streak. All in all it complemented an outstanding dry aged ribeye. But nothing to get excited about but a level above ho-hum.

September 2, 2006 - Tar, licorice and roasted fruit nose; lovely, solid, ripe blueberry and plum palate with some depth; short-medium finish

September 2, 2006 - Quick taste at K&L. This is one of their negociant bottlings; this comes from Hyde de Villaine, apparently. It has the Pinot sensibility of HdV Syrah, but lighter and with more vanilla character. I wonder if I'd rate this higher if it was tasted totally blind, not hoping for some special dank syrah. Good value to be sure at $18.
