  February 20, 2011 - Drank with parents at Lolita after cleaning out their attic. No, that’s not a euphemism. You’re morally reprehensible for even thinking that. I had it with the lamb tenderloin. The wine was fantastic. It got even better as it opened. Opulent but not over-extracted. good acidity to balance the plums, chocolate and other dark fruits. For the price simply awesome! I now am realizing that Wash Cabs can run circles around comparably priced Cali Cabs IF they are aged. They can be green and austere in the beginning but give it 5 years and they are better than the in your face fruit bombs that a lot of Cali is producing.

  Tasted August 19, 2006 at an offline. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Plum color in the glass, slightly dusty looking throughout. Nose of coffee, black berries and pepper. Flavors of black cherries, blackberries and red currants. Medium acidity with soft, almost silky tannins. Medium body. Fairly well balanced overall. Easy to drink right now I’d say drink over the short, maybe medium term. Based on the current retail price of $19.99 I’d say the value here is recommended. NOTE: This was a “shiner” so I’m presuming the wine is still sourced from the same place as the previous vintage.
