November 15, 2016 - We were celebrating, yet again, our birthday month at Angelini in the Kowloon Shanghai-La. Along with more than a few bottle purchases from the restaurant, we brought this luvly. We have been shockingly surprised at the quality and great value of the old Barolos we have acquired from a local merchant. Truly happy!!! Nice brownish-red. We were attacked by musty old law books upon opening, but she shook out her stank within an hour. Pure perfume of dried, over-ripe herbs (Chinese herbal tea called Yau Sei Mei comes to mind), a good dollop of fruit (prunes and red apples), some espresso-dark chocolate flavours and a smooth, elegant finish. She opened like a marathoner who just completed her race in cold, wet weather and finished like a mature, studio runway model...who even the young fellas ogle with delight!
