February 26, 2023 - Opaque deep purplish ruby
upon opening the violets are very prominent, then suddenly transitions to super earthy, semi ground peppers and leather
On the palate still very young
Enjoyable now, but needs a few years to become integrated perhaps ?

At Heirloom cafe purge dinner :)

November 17, 2021 - After reading "Cornas to drink now: Matt Walls’ top 20" published on Nov 4 2021, I opened the Gilles 2014 as suggested. Quite disappointing to say the least. Nose is a bit funky and gives very little. Palate still very tight and aggressive tannins that is a little green. Primary fruit has fade considerably but tertiary profile has not yet developed. Huge step back from a few years ago. I'm going to save this for another 3+ years.

Second day and third day it gains more aroma and palate a bit more interesting. But finish is short and feels watery. Disappointing at this stage.

October 9, 2020 - A bit green initially, but opens up and gains complexity with air.

March 30, 2019 - Deep ruby red colour. Leather, forest floor and oak on the nose. Taste of dark berries, leather and forest floor. Long and complex finish with hints of smoke, liquorice and muscat. A great and complex wine. Goes well with beef and lamb.

December 10, 2018 - A week in the Northern Rhone; 12/7/2018-12/15/2018 (Lyon, Vienne, Ampuis, Chavanay, Hermitage, Cornas, St. Joseph, Condrieu & Paris): Tasted at the Cave with Guillaume. A few more years of age after the ‘16 and also very good perhaps not quite as complex. The tannins have loosened up a bit here by comparison but this is still very young. Dark berries and black olives, very nice.
