January 17, 2009 - Earthy bouquet with a nice hint of cassis and berries. The taste on the mouth is a little "hot" with a bit too much alcohol. Flavors of black pepper, cranberries, and blackberry. It has a nice earthiness and spicy follow through. This is a pretty decent wine for the price point. The flavors of food helped enhance the flavors.

September 9, 2008 - Very fruity, little tannins. Mirna loved this wine.

August 20, 2008 - Popped & poured and this wine was just plain awful! Dirty nose, and not much more than a mouthful of dry tannins on first taste. Blechh!!! BUT--After an hour out of the cellar and breathing fresh air this merlot opened up beautifully. Plum, pepper & chocolate notes emerged on the nose. This wine is quite new-world fruity on the palate, with plum & blackberry dominant. Very dry, almost puckery, medium-long finish. There is a HUGE difference in how this wine showed just an hour after opening. This is actually a hell of a good merlot for under $10.00. Would pair well with lamb, seasoned beef. Not as smooth as the Coppola Blue Diamond (my "house" merlot), definitely rougher around the edges, but a very nice wine.
