January 7, 2020 - 2017 White Burgundy Dinner (Brasserie Margeaux - Chicago IL): Lots of lemon and green apple with good+ weight and length, but finishing with a finish I found slightly too tart, nearly bitter. Then much better with food. Recently purchased, so most likely current release.
January 1, 2020 - New Years Day: Vrai Champagne, Fourth Annual Edition (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN): Had this a week ago too, maybe a bit better bottle. Only had a small taste though and solid as usual. 90pts.
December 31, 2019 - Yeasty, bready but with a vibrant fruit and acid profile. Needs food.
December 31, 2019 - Last wine of the night for midnight toast, so not much scrutiny. Elevated acidity and could definitely age. Good value.
December 25, 2019 - Light gold color. Drank a couple glasses over 2 hours. Very bold nose, sea air, apple blossoms, golden apples, Meyer lemon, yeast. The palate shows excellent concentration, there's a lot of depth, green apples, pear, passionfruit panna cotta, apple peel and chalk. Nice tingly minerality and acidity.
December 20, 2019 - Annual Tasting Group Holiday Party (I Nonni, St. Paul, MN): Tasted, solid as usual. 9opts.
December 14, 2019 - Moderately sized bubbles. Rich straw yellow. Austere - some golden delicious apple, mineral, a fair amount of salinity.
November 26, 2019 - Nice sharp nose of brioche and almonds. On the palate, comes across clean with medium intensity. Tons of brioche, Rice Krispy Treat, chalk, and dried white carbs. Pretty interesting. Another sip, I get lemon notes with more of that crunchy white carb note. Never had that note in my Champagne before.
Wish the wine was fuller and richer, but at $20 for a half bottle, it’s not terrible. For my preferences, I wouldn’t seek it out again. Too simple.
November 7, 2019 - Charleston V - the wooden anniversary; 11/6/2019-11/10/2019 (Charleston, SC (various locations)): In the reasonably priced/this could be house bubbles kindof category this is one of my favorites. It's lean and zippy and apple and just a slight background of sweet toast. I find it very enjoyable and one of the best values in champagne.
October 18, 2019 - No disgorgement date available. Bright straw color with a fine and persistent bead of bubbles. Modest nose, appropriately citrus and biscuit. Very good energy and tension on the palate - nothing flabby here. Wonderful balance with nothing distracting or out of place. Long and clean finish. Very nice for the price.
