March 31, 2018 - A blend of Touriga Nacional (26%), Touriga Franca (22%), Tinta Amarela (14%), Tonta Roriz (5%) and "Vinhas Velhas" (33%). Aged for 18 months in oak barrels. 13,5% alcohol.

Surprisingly youthful color for a wine almost 10 years old: slightly translucent black cherry color with a subtly purplish hue. The nose feels somewhat restrained yet still very nuanced and attractive with slightly sweet aromas of floral Touriga character, some plummy dark fruit, a little bit of boysenberries, a hint of sweet cherry marmalade and a touch of dusty earth. Quite lovely and fragrant overall aroma. The wine feels full-bodied, smooth and juicy on the palate with rich flavors of blueberries, ripe dark fruits, some sweet oak spice, a little bit of boysenberry and a touch of plummy fruit. Overall the wine comes across as a bit sweeter, more polished and slightly more modern on the palate than in the nose. The wine shows good, balanced structure with its moderate acidity and firm, medium-plus tannins. The finish is juicy, rich and lengthy with slightly sweet flavors of plummy dark fruits, some toasty oak, a little bit of chocolate, hints of fragrant floral tones and a touch of fresh, crunchy dark berries.

A very nice, balanced and quite complex Douro red. Perhaps the wine could've shown a bit more rusticity, as it comes across as somewhat modern and polished, but this is by no means the worst offender in that department - on the contrary, this is pretty nice stuff for the style. I especially enjoy how the wine has some room for those fragrant, floral Touriga aromas to shine. I'm positively surprised how vibrant and youthful the wine is at almost 10 years of age and I can imagine it might take another decade for the wine to reach its apogee. There is a lot of room for further development, but the wine really doesn't need any more age per se - it is drinking very nicely right now. Good value at 19,90€.

July 20, 2017 - After popping I smelled the cork, what a wonderful flavours. Nice colour and beautifull roots. After some decanting you'll find the right taste. Nice blackberry and leather mix for most. Good roundness. Just a hint too much sugar for my taste. May go away with more decanting I think. Also a bit watery end, also got better with decanting. Too bad the bottle was empty before that ;)

June 23, 2017 - Medium bodied, supple and smooth, good tannic bite, delivering vibrant red and dark tart fruit without much secondary flavors. Perhaps a tiny hint of funk. Surprisingly youthful. Very good and solid stuff.

October 2, 2015 - 2015 Port Harvest Tour; 9/26/2015-10/3/2015 (Portugal): Dark purple in color. Floral and herbal notes with dark fruit underneath. Well-structured tannins. The fruit is subtle, leaving this with a dusty feel.
