March 8, 2021 - Pomegranate in color. Cedar, moss and chocolate on the nose. Medium body. Lively mouthfeel with tons of tannins and abundant acidity. The primary flavor profile of most red wines we drink is predominately fruity of some sort. Not so this wine. While there's dark fruit and black raspberry in the background, the primary notes evoke earth, flint and licorice with a hint of vanilla. Medium to long finish. At 17 years out and 5 years beyond the end of most drinking windows, this wine is no longer "weird" but can still provoke differing opinions.

April 16, 2020 - Really not great. At first I though it might be defective, but it improved a bit after opening and was drinkable, if disappointing. More herbal than fruity and quite high acid.

July 18, 2018 - Oh yeah. Spicy black cherry, licorice, and rosemary comprise an assertive nose. Borderline medicinal, in a good way. Red plums, raspberry, and even some cooked-down cranberries on the palate. Still grippy with lots of depth. Medium finish. Excellent with grilled chicken thighs with ras-el-hanout and dried figs. Drink now or 1-2 year hold.

January 25, 2018 - Felt like drinking wine last night. This wine was pretty good. Smooth entry, big flavor, good lasting finish. I had 0 complaints about this one. Finished the whole bottle and drank some tequila after. I think I am a bonafide alcoholic.
