June 3, 2021 - Pop and pour. In the glass, very clear, pale white gold. On the nose, lemons, limes, and a faint hint of smoke. On the palate, smooth and bright, with a primary note of key lime juice, and secondary notes of Meyer lemon and grapefruit, with a faint flinty note on a long, clean finish. This feels to me like the leading edge of the drinking plateau - if you have a couple bottles, now's a good time to check in.

October 17, 2020 - The nose strikes with peach, starfruit and apple cider, bright, oily texture and mouth feel, savory in style with salty lemon, peach, nectarine and stone, long tart finish, feels elegant and expressive with tons of individual character

August 13, 2019 - This dense and oily Chardonnay is drinking fine right now, without the tightness that Lato's whites can have in their youth. Light yellow in color; medium body; nose of pear, lime rind, and salt water. Tastes of apricot, lemon, and almond, with a round yet briny finish. 14.1% alcohol. Decant at least an hour, since it gains some depth with air.

I often find Lato's wines to be too intense (i.e., dense, almost bitter) in the early going, but this presents a somewhat different situation: even though it's more relaxed, the wine's fruit is just a little too muted for my taste. The 2014 version of this wine was one of my all-time favorite Lato wine, and this is good, but straightforward, follow-up. Drink in next year or two.

December 23, 2017 - Light, elegant and ethereal with stone fruit notes and delicate aromatics. Oak is subdued, which allows flavors to emerge fully. This is subtle, a bit restrained at first but obvious quality in the glass. Sophisticated and somewhat coy but enticing nonetheless.
