Community Tasting Notes 2

April 18, 2010 - This is really lovely. A perfect mature tawny port, seemingly ageless. Pale brown with hints of ruby, orange. Aromas of seville oranges, marmalade, toffee, toasted walnuts, caramel. Delicious with a long, seemingly endless, finish.

July 30, 2009 - Port with Oscar: Very Clear. Light - medium brown color. Spicy. Slightly astringent alcohol. Medium weight. Very smooth and silky. Lush mouth feel. Nice finish. Some dried leaves on the nose. Creamy. Started very hot but integrated with air. Lovely acidity and a satisfying warm finish. Don't get a lot of complexity but it is a beautiful wine. Nose nutty finish and very well balanced.

(Warre’s Colheita Port) Also tasted at the 2009 Sammamish Tawny Fest. Brick-red-orange hue with a broad, golden edge. Intense notes of gingerbread, toasted almonds, mace, and citrus are followed by a full-bodied, smooth, creamy texture. On the palate, the wine has a praline-hazelnut profile, along with roasted nuts, a light-citrus backdrop, and an aftertaste of burnt sugar and toffee. The only drawback of this Colheita was its surprisingly modest length; otherwise, it offered plenty of complexity and was one of the finest Ports we tasted that evening. Sensuosity in a glass!
