Hmm, this was supposed to be the second bottle of a two bottle lot of the 2015 Contra Costa Mataro, but I guess the auction house overlooked it. In any case, I wish it was the Contra Costa because this was not nearly as good. Not bad, but this was too unbalanced towards the acidic side, so it came across as a little shrill. And the flavor profile was earthy and "dirty", and not really in a way that I found very attractive. Clean and transparent wine making, but the source material just was not very appealing to me. January 26, 2021 - Decanted for an hour. Changed a great deal over 5 hours. Big and rich at start. More rustic and earthy at end. Wonderful and great QPR.

There is the slightest funky note that borders on cork taint. Over time it moves to intense fruit. Inky, ripe black fruit and a tidal zone aroma.
Sweet fruit. Ripe soft tannins. Again a slight hint of taint that blows off or a leathery note. Ripe black fruit.

December 3, 2020 - Decanted for an hour. Opened up a lot after another hour. Stayed strong for 5 hours. No hurry for others.
