March 31, 2024 - Magnum, decanted for an hour, no sediment to speak of - still lots of acid, tannins fairly well resolved, tart cherry and a little strawberry on the nose, confirmed by the palate along with a little leather and herb (oregano or thyme). Held up well to leg of lamb. Can't believe this will get any better. Drink it now if you have it.

May 21, 2022 - This extroverted beauty lifts from the glass with an exotic mix of sweet tobacco, foreign spice, crushed rose, violets, cloves and a dusting of confectioners sugar. It's soft, verging on fleshy, held together by bright acidity with masses of raspberry preserve and hard red candied fruit that set off all the pleasure meters. The 2015 really shows the power of the vintage, especially with its potency, while tapering off to grippy tannins and hints of licorice. There is a ridiculous amount of pleasure to be found here, and while I don't see the 2015 getting any better than it is today, it's going to be a rockstar over the next two to three years.

May 21, 2021 - Dinner with Valerie's extended family. Last magnum, slow oxed then decanted for 30 minutes. Paired with my slow cooked bolognese sauce and fettuccini...

From prior notes:"Medium garnet color. Nose evolved, showing red fruits, baking spice, mild cedar, dried flowers. Palate of cherry, spice/cinnamon, herbs and earth notes. Medium weight and finish..."

From memory, tannins a bit softer with this bottle. In a good spot now: fruits are bright and expressive, texture has smoothed. Not a lot of depth but was a perfect pairing with this dinner. Would be good with any red sauce dishes.

December 31, 2020 - Significantly better on night #2. Heat of the vintage showing very opulent fruit that needs time to open and come together. Cherry, blackberry, leather, spice, barrique and a hint of licorice. With time, fruit softens, lush mouthfeel with spice, heat, grip and good acidity. A touch too much heat from the 14.5% alcohol.
