December 12, 2023 - While i like this wine, it did not rally impress me. I wonder if it had passed its prime. Consumed 2023.
My general impression, now fading from time, is that of a more elegant Barberra, with maybe more herbs on the nose.
Likely a very good wine pairing with food, especially anything fatty.
In any event i doubt this will improve. If others have experience with the age curve for "better" dolcettos" enlighten us.
Sorry to give such lame info. -

March 2, 2019 - Mörk nästan lila
Doftar först körsbär sedan mer "blåa bär" mörkare.
Lite kryddig.
Mycket smak och fungerar härligt till pizzan, saknar kanske lite längd på eftersmaken.1 person found this helpful Comment -

August 25, 2018 - Pretty bland and higher OH than the 13.5% listed. Just not my type of wine. Too much bite and lacked finesse and depth. The wife liked it so that is great!!

February 17, 2018 - Good red fruit with rosemary and thyme in the background. There is great balance here with just enough backbone. There is an earthiness on the finish with slight leather and tobacco.
Very nice wine. -

December 16, 2017 - Often playing second (and third) fiddle to Nebbiolo and Barbera in the Piedmont hierarchy, Dolcetto (in the right hands) can produce very good quality wines at tremendous values, and ones that can pair with any number of food options given its relatively neutral structure. Azienda Agricola Azelia, owned and produced by members of Piedmont fame (the Scavino family), flies somewhat under the radar considering the pedigree. Combine those two factors, and you’re in for a bottle with an outstanding background and high likelihood of solid QPR. This wine does provide just that – classic Italian style profile with an easy drinking structure for under $30. It opened up with cranberry, sour cherry, and red currant overlaying a floral sense, before sage, licorice, and tobacco joined into the mix. With time, riper raspberry, blackberry, and cherry notes appeared, along with cinnamon and touches of smoke. Graphite and forest floor made an appearance, and day 2 provided plenty of spice on the palate. The wine developed nicely throughout tasting, and though not overly complex, gave a suitable amount of intrigue and enjoyment. It proved an all-around versatile sip, and certainly one worth exploring given its nature and price point!
