Community Tasting Notes 4

May 8, 2010 - The nose never seems to let up, going full throttle with every pour. Apricot, pear, mineral and something almost smokey. Fresh, clean and intense on the nose and palate. The finish, while lengthy seems to almost evaporate away. This is what Viognier is meant to be. 14% alc. With rotisserie chicken with apricot sauce. This must be the most perfect pairing for this wine. A stunning match. Highly Recommended.

September 13, 2009 - I pulled this wine with some trepidation. Given the age that one never knows just how a Viognier might age. It was almost the color of a light bourbon and ginger; a honeyed-orange color; almost amber. One whiff of the nose and .... Damn! Mineral, apricot, white flowers and very ripe; it’s all good. The intensity of the apricot was so concentrated, but not in the least over done. The wine is long on the palate with a full, very long and dusty dry finish. It doesn’t make much sense to say, but it felt like a red wine. It had the weight that, when coupled with the dusty dryness made you think of a red wine. If you tasted this blindfolded, I am not sure it would have been identified as a white wine. 14% alc. With rotisserie chicken sauced with apricot and shallots; a spot on perfect pairing. Highly Recommended.

    February 6, 2007 - Shaw's Crabhouse with Mary.

Beautiful white as suggested by the sommelier.

    Deep gold color.

Nose bursting of dried fruit. Apricot. Slight hints of citrus.
Honeysuckle, vanilla also in the boquet.

Extremely enjoyable with our King and Stone Crab.
    Enjoyed to the last drop.
A true Old World Viognier that I believe anyone would enjoy.

The Condrieu appellation is a winner!

September 7, 2006 - BHG Celebration Dinner (Per Se): Beautiful wine - gorgeous nose of lychees, maybe just a touch of petrol, a bit of citrus. Elegant, floral, lychee complexion.
