  January 17, 2018 - The color of onion skin, Juvé & Camps Cava Gran Reserva Brut 2012 unfurls at a leisurely pace. Smoky, autolytic notes rise above decadently layered aromas of dried fruit, molasses, baked apple, forest honey, and almond skins. As fine, cascading bubbles dart to and fro, springing forth from a core that is softly textured and clean, endowed with stone fruit and citrus. That beguiling smoky note reemerges at the close. 7 g/l RS, 12.0% ABV | Sample

  May 29, 2017 - English sparkling wines vs continental bubbles, flight 2, wine 2 (blind): This sparkling wine was light yellow-golden in colour and offered smoke, nuts and yellow fruit aromas on the nose. On the palate the wine showed smoke, nuts and a beer-like note on top of suppressed fruit flavours, with reasonably fine mousse, medium-level acidity and good length of the bitter finish. The medium-bodied wine was broad and lacked freshness, and tasted bitter. Not bad per se, just not easy to like, more of an acquired taste probably.
