Community Tasting Notes 5

May 15, 2022 - Why do they put wax on these? Pain to get open. Light greenish gold; quite restrained on the nose with more citrus and perhaps orchard fruit than tropical notes; Chablis-like. On the palate this seems out of whack, like the last bottle; very high acidity which overwhelms the fruit. Consistent and disappointing as I find Peay's estate chard from multiple vintages to be excellent.

June 26, 2020 - PnP. Notes tomorrow. Light greenish gold. Rather Chablis like on the nose with citrus rather than tropical fruits dominant. Silky on the mid-palate then good phenolic intensity and acidity on the finish. This is good but I am underwhelmed. Perhaps going through an awkward phase and the wine still needs to come together. Balance is fine so will keep last bottle for a few more years. Disappointing for Peay.

September 20, 2019 - This was a delight from start to finish. Pretty color, delicate, slightly floral and citrus bouquet, some wet stone. The initial impression was of the clean minerality of the wine. Oysters and then a hint of lemon curd with lemon grass and stone. Everyone loved this wine. Happy we waited to have the first bottle. Not yet reached a peak.

February 13, 2019 - Pop and pour then enjoyed over the course of a sunny day.

We really enjoyed this. Citrus and mineral flavors backed seamlessly by saline and toast, cleansing acidity. Nice out of the bottle but shone with snacks of lightly salted nuts.

First of three, will be hard to keep my hands off but should last well 3-5 years.

December 10, 2017 - Popped and poured. First bottle of this wine. Solid chardonnay. Wish it had a bit more acidity to pull it all together. Recommend holding these for another year or two to see if some more depth comes.
