April 27, 2024 - Caller of dark purple red. Scents of blueberries, and a little bit of bramble. Tastes consistent with scents.

March 18, 2022 - Young, needs a lot of air - 2+ hours decant, and in fact, the part that wasn't decanted improves in the next two days. Solid with a classic profile.
18 months in 30% new barriques
I should have paid more attention to this detail before opening the bottle.

October 23, 2021 - Wine Advocate Kings of Rhone Online Masterclass: Unfortunately this one also exhibited signs of oxidation although still drinkable. Earthy and spicy with funky mushroom notes. Good acidity in the background. Very fine tannins.

October 16, 2021 - Kings of Rhone Masterclass (Casa Esperanza): Pretty good. It was a little tough coming after a really stunning bottle of 2016 Guigal La Mouline, but this was a solid Cote Rotie in its own right. The nose here was pleasant, but rather less generous than the Guigal, with classic notes of blueberries along with a nice savoury touch of earth and meat, and just that tiny hint of wild herb. The palate was very youthful, perhaps too much so, with a very structural feel lent to it by firm, muscular tannins and tightly-wound acidity wrapped around a supple core of blueberries and dark cherries, maybe a touch of savoury olives, these laced with a little bit of peppery spice and bittersweet herb stretching into a nicely lengthy finish. With time, some lovely baking spices came out as well. Quite yummy, and I really did like the texture and freshness on this - I think it has all the bones to age nicely over the next decade or so.
