Community Tasting Notes 3

February 24, 2024 - Opened for one hour but not decanted (an error)

At first this was tough and unyielding. Tasted much younger the ten years.

But later classic and beguiling scents of violet and much besides arose from glass. These softened the backbone on the palette.

Definitely decant for at least one hour.

December 20, 2020 - Gasoline engine oil thick and heavy aromas serious on the palette but just becoming drinkable and very enjoyable. Not locked up in any way but a lot going on here. Will hold for a long time. Crazy palette experience. Not overdone.

March 5, 2018 - Medium garnet. with a little ruby still showing through The nose is still a little closed and the wine overall is still very fresh and youthful. The palate is dry, and somewhat austere. The acidity is medium (+), as is the alcohol (14%) which really does not taste that high. The tannins are medium (+) to pronounced. Overall, this is a structured, full-bodied wine which definitely benefits from decanting and/or several more years of aging. It comes from La Morra and the soil has more clay so it’s more powerful expression of Nebbiolo. Aged in French oak, then Slavonian oak. Best from 2019 onwards.
