April 13, 2024 - 15% ABV. Evolved looking medium to dark garnet/brown colour. Ripe red and dark fruit, ripe red cherry, ripe strawberry, ripe raspberry, prune, bitter cocoa, and oak spice, with medium-level acidity, dry but round tannin, and very good length. Ripe and oaky, with notable oak bitterness. Then pruny and raisiny after extended aeration, literally falling apart. Stylistically, this is a relic of yesteryear‘s St. Émilions. Not a fan.

November 15, 2023 - Pretty darn good. First night it was bright and sassy, with nice length. Seemed to be just coming into its own. Second night, corked in the cellar, it rounded further, with a hint of chocolate on the finish that I believe will show further in another year or two. Or three. Sorry I have only the one bottle. Would love to see how it evolves.

October 11, 2023 - Beautiful and velvety. Intense aromas of dark fruit, toasty oak and vanilla. Round tannins and long aftertaste. Drinks beautifully now. Perfect match to reindeer fillet.

February 15, 2023 - Decanted for 5 hours, this St. Emilion Grand Cru opened up into a deliciously smooth and velvety pour, with a hint of blackcurrant and licorice on the nose. Its mouthwatering taste was silky and sophisticated, and its tannins were restrained (despite its 15% alcohol content). Perfect with a good steak, it continued to impress with a good finish thru the cheese plate.

November 14, 2022 - This is a delightful wine, but it takes a long road to get there. Decanted for 6-7 hours and then aerated it into the glass. Earthy and woodsy, heavier stone fruit in the background, nothing berry-like that I could discern. Nice, dusty tannins with a bit of acidity to brighten everything. I let half a bottle rest under its cork in the pantry overnight and it had opened even more by the next evening. Thus, the QPR is off the charts. But I think its true drinking window--one without all the artificial airing--probably starts around 2024-25. I will lay some down and see if it's worth the wait. If I can wait....
