March 13, 2022 - Age had certainly added some flesh to the bones here! Rich, ripe, plenty of fig and nougat and spicy oak and yellow stone fruit (peach and nectarine), and a phenolic texture/grip that really says "I need food". A little too much of everything on Day 1, had calmed down by Day 2 and become far more enjoyable.

January 20, 2017 - Piper's River - 3 Cellar Doors (Piper's River): {screwcap, 13%, A$40} A one-off from a lot of Tamar-sourced fruit, inspired by the wines of Chablis, but not evidently attempting to emulate them, by virtue of the 100% malo and 50% oak aging. 120-odd cases. Rich buttery nose, with a malo character. Full-bodied, yeasty palate. Medium-bodied, even palate, ripe tropical fruits, not too oaky. Even palate. Good, wine, seemed a touch underwhelming in a tasting line-up. That all said, a second bottle (at the CD price!) in a Bridport bistro a few days later was beautifully balanced, subtle, crisply, minerally and a joy to drink.
