April 13, 2024 - Bold tannins strike me most with this wine. But that made a wonderful pairing with braised short ribs. A fine Barolo.

February 12, 2023 - I had this on release 5 years ago, and I remarked that it felt a tiny bit of stewed fruit and that it was aromatic and generous upon pouring.

Well, it seems like it has closed down a bit... there's absolutely no signs of stewed fruit. The tannins and acid are strong. It takes some air for the cherry fruit, the rose aroma and the velvety, fuzzy texture to come out, but when it does, it's quite delicious and giving, especially with food. The baby fat has shed and now it's on its way to adolescence. Luckily, I have more.

November 13, 2022 - See previous note from 4/20. This has improved significantly over the past two plus years. Tannins have rounded and are integrating nicely. Gorgeous, layered, complex, floral (roses) bouquet. Digging the smokiness now with orange peel. Drinking well now with time to improve.

October 22, 2020 - A very much straightforward red fruit notey wine that shows plenty of fruit initially until the tannin arrives. Beautifully balanced, fine future. Very much a wine to buy in this vintage, but perhaps less so in other vintages. Another of those wines that told me basically if you buy the 2013 Barolos, you'll be quite fine for the next ten years. I add that my view has always been to buy vintages where the wines are of across the board consistent quality. Picking winners out of inconsistent vintages was never my game.
