January 15, 2017 - Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. Aged for 30 months on the lees in stainless steel.

Pale lime green color. Expressive nose with aromas of ripe golden apples, some smoky tones of gunpowder, a little bit of crushed sea shells, a hint of wool and an autolytic touch of creamy richness. The wine is surprisingly full-bodied, rich and weighty for an Albariño with powerful flavors of ripe golden apples, leesy creaminess, some juicy and tangy citrus fruits, a little bit of yellow stone fruits, light lactic tones of sourmilk, a hint of tart green apples and a touch of saline minerality. The finish is long, lively and quite tangy with flavors of lemony citrus fruits, tart green apples, some zesty citrus fruit tones, a little bit of creamy richness, a hint of lactic yoghurt character and a sweeter touch of yellow fruits.

A surprisingly rich, full-bodied and creamy Albariño that tastes almost like it has been aged in oak, even though it never sees one bit of wood. Overall the wine is impressively powerful and nuanced, but despite being a year older than its other top-of-the-line peers released at the same time (Balado and El Palomar), this feels a bit more youthful and little less impressive. Especially the somewhat lactic tones serve as a distraction of sort and I wish they'll disappear with more age. This wine seems to be more about aging potential than immediate pleasure. Terrific stuff, but a perhaps not as impressive as Balado or El Palomar at the moment. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this wine turned out greater than either one with some additional age. Priced according to its quality at 26,50€.
