February 3, 2021 - Prior bottle was nearly 8 months ago and my notes were quite comparable. Black cherry, plum and spice notes on the nose. Medium bodied with black cherry upfront, adding some plum through the middle and then tart black cherry and blackberry on the backside. Retains good acidity both upfront (for brightness) and on the backside (for structure and contrast). Balanced overall, but I'd drink over the next year as additional cellar time won't lead to improvement.

June 6, 2020 - Prior bottle was nearly ten months ago and this wine remains in a good spot. Black cherry, plum and light spices on the nose. Medium bodied with black cherry and plum upfront followed by tart black cherry and blackberry behind. Acidity lends brightness upfront and structure behind. It seemed a touch out of balance at first, but after some time open it settled down nicely. Intrigued by how red-fruit my Dolcetto from last night was, while this one was all blackfruit. I'm a little concerned with how the acidity showed and may open my last bottle later this year.

August 24, 2019 - Prior bottle was almost nine months ago and this time, my notes were quite consistent. Black cherry, plum and a touch of vanilla on the nose. Medium bodied with black cherry and plum upfront. Retains some of the tart, acidity based brightness and mineral qualities upfront. Mid-body shows good expressiveness and roundness, blending into the backside notes of tart black cherry and a hint of blackberry. High toned acidity and mineral notes come in here and through the finish. Retains enough acidity and other tart, structural notes to improve a touch more and I'll try my next bottle in Q1 2020.

November 22, 2018 - Previously tasted at the winery 18 months ago, this was my first from bottle and while my notes were considerably different, this wasn't unexpected. All blackfruit now with plum and black cherry on the nose. Medium bodied (13.5% ABV) with black cherry and plum upfront. Also shows a lot of acidity upfront, rather in the back. Rounds out through the middle and has a blackberry note on the backside. Some tart notes come in now which helps to balance the upfront fruit and the acidity actually fades out through the mid-body. This allows the fruit to carry the wine through the finish rather than structure. While pretty now with youthful fruit, this further reinforces my belief that this is a wine for current consumption. It's drinking well at present, but won't improve with age. Remains a very good value and next bottle for me will be in Q1 2019.

May 9, 2017 - Tasted at the winery. Bright, mixed redfruit notes on the nose. Just medium bodied but showing very pretty fruit: red cherry upfront with a slightly deeper blueberry behind. The fruit is soft, open and accessible and with just enough tartness and acidity in the background to provide a backbone and some contrast. Like the barbera, the strength of this wine was in its current fruit, not any cellaring potential. This should show well over the next two years and for the price paid, is a fantastic bargain.
