January 31, 2024 - Dominated by tastes of dark red and brown fruits. Some stewed things happening as well . But no denying the fruit forwardness of this wine. Hard to think of this outside its drinking window.

November 17, 2023 - Wonderful wine. Balanced, good structure. Tannins have smoothed out, dusty, not sweet nor bitter. Plums and dark berries with maybe some stewed fig sneaking in. Long finish. Some black tea and spices as well.

October 23, 2023 - One of my absolute favorite wines from Spain is Pintia from the Vega Sicilia family, in the D.O Toro region. My first vintage from 2005, got a bit nervous when the cork was completely dried out and completely crumbled, lots of sediment when we filtered the wine. But what a wine, classic aromas from the tempranillo fruit. On the palate, blackberries, ripe black cherries, licorice, tobacco leaf. Still a lovely acidity which I think symbolizes Pintia, good tannin structure. Tertiary notes in the form of wet autumn leaves, mushrooms and leather. A good finish, this will last for years to come. My luck that I have a bottle left of this vintage.

April 9, 2023 - My first bottle of this, having had the 04 Pintia in 2011. My first impression of this is that it is dried out, astringent, and not a lot of pleasure. The wood is full forward, lots of tobacco, bark, leather, and forest floor. A bit of bitter cocoa on the back end. Tannins are angular.

July 24, 2022 - Solid wine. No formal notes, but drinking young and very powerful.

(PINTIA) Gems Dear Friends, It's the middle of the night in Paris but I've just confirmed this set of gems. All are EXTREMELY LIMITED at the prices below (including one of the lowest prices I've ever seen on Domaine des Senechaux). All have impeccable provenance: Have a good weekend everyone - - Jon Rimmerman ************************************** Featured Wine: Senechaux This property is now owned by the Cazes family of Lynch Bages and they are attempting to elevate the wine to the very top tier. Senechaux is an estate to watch closely over the next 3-5 years to see what develops. For now, this wine is on the way to us at a steal of a price - nearly 50% off. Yes, it's 2006 but the more I talk to the winemakers in the Rhone (over the past two weeks), the more I get the very firm idea that 2006 is one of their personal favorite vintages to drink. The quotes are something like: "2007 is for show, 2006 is for my dinner. Not that 2007 is bad, quite the opposite, it is an incredible, fantastic year but it is not a vintage of finesse - maybe in time, but tonight it is 2006 that captures my imagination". This is a full 750ml, not a 375ml: 2006 Domaine des Senechaux Chateauneuf-du-Pape 750ml STRICT LIMIT 12/person until we run out ************************************** 2005 Clos Figueres Priorat "Clos Figueres" STRICT LIMIT 6/person until we run out (this is not the Font de la Figueres, this is the Clos) 2005 Pintia (Vega Sicilia) Toro STRICT LIMIT 3/person until we run out Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Spain5487 Spain5488 Rhone3466 Click
