October 15, 2023 - Yeah that’s a sh*t wine, unless you like bubble gum. As close to an epic fail as possible other than the 16. Gross that I paid $40 for these.

December 29, 2021 - Black Hills Syrah Vertical - 2014 to 2019: Had blind as part of a 2014 to 2019 BH Syrah vertical.

Darker in colour, still mid bodied. Prominent smoke along with some vanilla notes. It was tough to tell it was a lot older than some of the other wines.

    Ranked 2 of 6.

March 23, 2021 - Deep ruby with medium intensity predominantly strawberry notes.
Dry, high acidity, medium tannin, high alcohol and full body.
A lot of intense primary flavours going on including black cherry, anise and raspberry. A bit of coconut accounts for the secondaries. No really discernible tertiaries but I think this is better in a fresh state.
The finish is medium so very good to borderline outstanding.

September 19, 2020 - Opened and let it sat for 4 hours before drinking. Dark red in color with aromas dominated by spice/herds, black fruits and hints of floral fragrance. Medium body on the palate has a fine structure with smooth tannins and fresh black and red fruits, as well as spices. The fruits, the oak, the spices and the acidity all integrated into a well balanced wine that drinks perfectly now. I find this 100% Syrah intriguing in that it drinks like it has a dash of Viognier in it that provides the lift and freshness. I used to think the 2013 was Black Hills' best Syrah, not anymore. I now prefer this vintage over the 2013.

This wine will drink well for the next 4 to 5 years.

September 6, 2019 - Other than a small sample, my first take on one of the better Okanagan Syrahs. Big body as would have been expected from this very hot vintage. Pronounced herbal nose which mirrors the palate. A bit more tannic than peppery resulting in a lengthy finish. Not necessarily quintessential for the area but enjoyable nonetheless.

July 11, 2019 - I opened the wine poured and drank a glass immediately. Unbelievable wine from the black hills collection. from the first sip through to the 45 minute decant this wine was a belt high fast ball right over the plate.
It was a well rounded , mellow on the nose an smooth on the pallet. perfectly bright and subtle wine. at the same time. low alcohol content for its youthfulness.

March 14, 2019 - Similar impact as previous TN. Still very young in its potential arc. Lots of rustic fruit and smoked meat. This will synthesize. The tannin, acidity & alcohol are in in good form. Open next bottle in 2020.
