Community Tasting Notes 13

February 23, 2016 - Drunk from a friend's cellar. Medium translucent ruby/garnet with slight bricking. With air the nose gets a lot earthier and weightier but is dominated early by black cherry then light strawberry, earthy mineralogy and a touch of floral/pine. this definitely took 2+ hours to evolve and was best as the last drop was consumed about 3 hours after opening.

March 17, 2015 - IPOB in SF 3/16 - Quick Impressions: A little green on the nose, but opens up to fig fruit flavors, along with with savory pine-forest and dark earth and spice. Rich finish.

February 23, 2015 - I loved this wine. Served at IPOB by the winery. Tremendous perfume of strawberry and roses. Secondary notes on the palate--some red fruit and spice backed up by nice acidity...best cali pinot in a year plus.

July 6, 2013 - Served blind. And actually, I got it nearly right! New world fruit but with a restrained (and quite good wine-maker at the helm), with some stems, and then just a touch of deft new oak. Over all, really good if not a crowd favorite.

May 13, 2013 - On the nose, a nice mix of fruit and earth. The highlight for me is a resinous, woody, slightly green note that is somewhat reminiscent of the signature note in many Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier men's colognes. Fully resolved on the palate, and nicely balanced for now, though this bottle is showing the slightest indication that it's not going to hold up for much longer. The caveat there is that I bought this bottle, 5-6 years from vintage from a local retailer not known for good in store storage / bottle treatment. Perhaps bottles stored better from release will demonstrate a longer aging curve. All-in-all, a nice QPR for the sale price of $30.
