March 20, 2022 - Still intense and young, but very pure. Unique expression of Merlot.

June 23, 2021 - Tasted double blind. This was a big disappointment when revealed. At first, it had not much expression but the more serious thing was the completely drying tannins as well as some unwanted ageing aromas (a 2014 shouldn’t have soy sauce aromas). Was it a bad bottle? Based on Eric Guido’s note it seems so, but I’m not sure. It was certainly not just an awkward phase as such tannins can’t be fixed.

TN: Not very expressive nose with leather and earth notes and some soy sauce. On the palate the style is fresh and cool with lots of minerality and herbs and some darker fruits. This misses the fruit sweetness to get to a good balance. The main fault are the completely drying tannins which make it rather unpleasant to drink.

Decanting: Decanted for roughly 2-3 hours.

May 22, 2019 - The nose was exuberant and ripe, yet still so fresh, showing a mix of sweet plums, blueberry and spices, giving way to mint leaf, lavender and masses of dusty dried florals. On the palate, I found a cool-toned expression as silky, almost creamy textures ushered in tart red and black fruits, infused with saline-minerality. The finish was, at first a bit short, yet as the wine sat in the glass it gained more momentum, coating the palate in inner floral tones, while tart red fruits and mounting tannins resonated. When all was said and done, I found myself loving the 2014.
