November 24, 2020 - Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Med + to deep ruby with a garnet rim. Nose is med (+) in intensity and smoky, with tart black cherry, dried black plum, violets, dark chocolate, licorice, smoke and espresso. Spends 10-12 mos in 2nd and 3rd use French barriques. Dry, with med (+) to high acidity and medium, resolved tannins. The alcohol is medium (+) (13.5%). Full bodied, with med (+) flavor intensity and an astringent, med (+) long finish. Made in a traditional style and intended to be consumed with food. Did not show as well as last year.

October 15, 2019 - Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Medium (+) to deep ruby with a garnet rim. The nose is clean, medium (+) in intensity and smoky, with tart black cherry, cranberry, violets, dark chocolate, licorice, smoke and espresso. The palate is dry, consistent with the nose, with medium (+) to high acidity and medium (+) tannins. The alcohol is medium (+) (13.5%). This wine is full bodied, and a little sweeter and more intense than the nose, with a long finish. This wine is made in a traditional style and intended to be consumed with food.

March 17, 2019 - Drinkable, but for Aglianico, it's mediocre. Deficient in everything I look for in this variety. Lacking body, fruit, and tannin. The better wines of this variety are quite powerful and show why Aglianico is sometimes referred to as "the Barolo of the South."

January 30, 2018 - Pleasant but not complex. Needed a bit of air to open up, and even so, I don't think this is something I would want without a decent matching food (we had it with pasta and tomato sauce, for which it was perfectly adequate) .
