Community Tasting Notes 16

  • GFischmann Likes this wine: 96 points

October 6, 2023 - Perfect paring with steak. Dark fruit with balanced tannins and acidity.
Residual secondary notes with developing more earth flavors.

  • Wine G Likes this wine: 95 points

September 24, 2023 - The balance with power is what elevates this wine. From a winemaker or artist standpoint , a tip of the hat. This is quite a delecious and rich wine, but without being overly sweet and heavy. However there are other cabernet wines, both from Napa and Bordeaux, in the $100-150
Range that can achieve this same (or very close to it) quality for a half or third the price.

In other words this Maiden is very Reliable and quite good, but a pretty Terrible QPR…

This 2016 is certainly in its prime but with many more year with proper cellaring. 94-96 range

May 23, 2023 - Too tight after 4 hour decant. Pretty annoyed with $375 bottle tasting like this after sitting down for 7 years. Needs to sit for another 5 and then maybe the Harlan mystique will be worth the price of admission.

  • GFischmann Likes this wine: 94 points

May 6, 2023 - Still young but great balance of acidity, tannins and fruit.
Let sit and really opened up.
Secondary notes present but tertiary notes of earth and leather just developing

  • jvphoto Does not like this wine: 90 points

January 10, 2023 - Smelled good, tasted unremarkable (aka something from an airline lounge).
