August 10, 2023 - Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined and refrigerated), note from day 2. Appearance: Clear, medium ruby core with the edges showing some cloudiness and bricking. Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity with developed aromas of pomegranate, dried cherry, white pepper, rose bush, and mushroom. Palate: Dry, medium+ acid, medium- tannin, medium body, medium intensity, 13.5% abv with flavors of pomegranate, white pepper, and brick dust with a medium+ finish.

    Balance: Excellent
    Length: Excellent
    Intensity: Very good
    Complexity: Excellent

Overall, this an excellent under the radar Pinot from the Oregon Chehalem Mountains uniquely aged in amphorae. At 8 years it's just entering it's prime drinking window - drink now or over next 2-3 years.

June 14, 2018 - Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, cherry, raspberry, brick dust (I stole that from the producer, but it applies), and cola. Palate: Medium bodied, cherry, raspberry and Asian spice attack, dusty tannins, good balance, fruit persists nicely through the mid-palate building in intensity through the back-end with the dusty brick and cherry persisting through a 30-45 second finish.

This was a wine of the month selection from Howard Street Wines in Omaha, very interesting and enjoyable I must say. It was fermented and, at least partially, aged in terra cotta amphorae, hence the dusty brick impressions. The amphorae influence is felt from front to back, it's different, but it definitely doesn't suck. If you're looking for a different spin on Pinot Noir find yourself a bottle of this.

July 28, 2017 - Only Amphora aged, if I recall correctly, and subtlety imparted clay, dust, and mineral notes make their presence known throughout. Lighter in style than the Lignum, and the wine's acute earthiness might make it an excellent pairing for boar, venison, elk, etc. Unique and delicious!
